Our success and longevity is a direct result of great partnerships, like with Hannay Reels, which have been forged over the past 125 years. Here’s what Eric Hannay, CEO & President of Hannay Reels, had to say about how OPW and “The Reel Leader” have worked together to achieve mutual success.

OPW will be displaying a variety of its innovative products – many of which are setting new standards in retail and commercial fuel-handling applications – at the Feb. 21-23 event in Las Vegas, NV. OPW will be located at the main entrance in Booth 514.

Mike Jennings and Trevor Pardoe formed Fibresec in 1980 to manufacture and market GRP (glass reinforced plastic) sumps for gasoline tanks. During field visits, they noticed operators lugging heavy metal access covers during inspection and refueling. Upon learning there wasn’t a safer solution in the market, they decided to create one using their composites expertise.

Back in 1961, Morris Simon owned a successful heating-oil distribution company in the Chicago area. As his fleet continued to grow, so did the need for a convenient and efficient way to refuel his vehicles.

Are you heading to Atlanta for the 2016 edition of the NACS Show and PEI Convention? We certainly hope so! OPW will be displaying a variety of its fuel equipment products – many of which are setting new standards in retail and commercial fuel-handling applications – at the upcoming event. OPW will be located in Hall B, Booth No. 4309 at the NACS/PEI Show, which will be held from Oct. 18-21 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA.

Indiana is the home to the Indy 500, basketball legend Larry Bird and one of OPW's favorite trade shows: M-PACT. Held every March in Indianapolis, IN, M-PACT garners a large and diverse number of attendees, attracts huge sponsors (e.g., Marathon, Shell, BP, ExxonMobil) and is just a two-hour drive from OPW headquarters. But beyond all of that, it is a chance for OPW to meet and interact with customers who live and work in the very region OPW calls home. That is something that has a lot of value, especially as OPW continues to add brands and products from every corner of the world.

WPMAExpo, presented by the Western Petroleum Marketers Association, recently took place in Las Vegas, NV, and what a show!

The calendar shows February and the sky brings bursts of flurries. A cold wind whips down the main hall of OPW headquarters each time the door opens. Thank goodness for WPMA. Thank goodness for Las Vegas.

It’s hard to believe, but a decade has passed since Congress adopted the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). In the years since, the RFS has successfully increased the percentage of gasoline and diesel blended with renewable energy sources (e.g., ethanol, vegetable oil). However, the market has been unable to keep pace with the volume requirements set by the RFS. Because of this, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently released revised standards for the RFS for 2014, 2015, and 2016 and the biomass-produced diesel volume for 2017. So, what are the revised requirements, what entities do they affect and what do they mean?

Retail fueling's largest annual trade show, PEI Convention at the NACS Show, is only a few days away! Taking place in Las Vegas, NV, the 2015 PEI-NACS runs Oct. 12-14 and will attract more than 1,000 exhibitors from a variety of product and service categories.

Comprehensive site reconciliation that accounts for all fuel being pumped into and out of tanks is critical to achieving true fuel control. Without it, site operators lack timely visibility of common inventory problems including theft, fraud, leaks, meter drift, short deliveries and gray loads, all of which cause variance in fuel inventory. Difficult to detect, these unaccounted fuel losses have the potential to devastate a fuel manager’s bottom line. This article discusses how a technology-driven reconciliation solution can help fuel sites significantly minimize unaccounted losses.

Fleet management is a big job in and of itself. An even bigger job? Fleet management funded by taxpayer dollars. Government fleet managers who operate in the public sector — whether they are at the federal, state, county, or local level — have a responsibility to ensure that fuel resources are being used responsibly and managed efficiently. However, this represents an ongoing government fleet management challenge, due to the widespread opportunity for fuel theft and reporting errors.

WPMA's National Convention & Convenience Store Expo being held Feb. 17-19 in Las Vegas, NV, annually brings together more than 4,000 petroleum marketers and exhibitors representing over 165,000 convenience stores. As always, the WPMA Expo will be a must-attend event for those within the retail-fuel industry. This year's theme, "Success Through Change," focuses on helping convenience store operators understand the latest legal and financial changes within the retail-fueling landscape.

Since the rise of self-service stations, safety breakaways have become a vital piece of dispensing equipment at thousands of fueling sites around the world. Safety breakaways connect the fueling dispenser to the hose, and perform a simple, yet important task – halt the flow of fuel whenever excessive force is applied while preventing personal injury or harm to the environment.

According to a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), price remains the dominant reason why consumers buy gas at a particular location. While this outcome may not be surprising, the survey does reveal that how consumers shop for that price is changing.

With this year drawing to an end, the oil and gas industry is facing a new set of challenges due to a variety of new regulations that were introduced in 2013. However, as long as fueling solutions professionals make sure that they are in compliance with these regulations, then they can continue to keep their operations going strong.
