71SO Segmented Overfill Prevention Valve

The OPW 71SO Segmented Overfill Valve is designed with the same reliability, quality materials and shut-off features trusted in the traditional OPW 71SO Overfill Prevention Valve, while also making shipping and storage easier. The segmented design allows for more compact packaging and cost-efficient transport, reduces potential damage during transit and makes storage easier.

The 71SO Segmented Overfill Prevention Valve doesn't require special manholes and is easy to install without breaking concrete. The four 5' segments can be customized to fit 8-12' tank diameters, with an overall length exceeding 223".

  • Easier, more cost-effective shipping and storage
  • Easy and economical installation (tube joiners included)
  • Non-vapor-tight valves currently available; vapor-tight valves coming soon
  • Compatible up to B100 (non-E85 versions)

Used for gravity filling, the OPW 71SO Segmented Overfill Prevention Valve is a two-stage shut-off valve designed to prevent the overfill of underground storage tanks by providing a positive shut-off of product delivery. When the liquid level rises to about 95% of tank capacity, the valve mechanism is released, closing automatically with the flow. This reduces the flow rate to approximately 5 gpm through a bypass valve.

When shut off occurs at 95%, operators typically quit filling the tank, disconnect, and drain the delivery hose. If the delivery is not stopped and the liquid rises to about 98% of the tank's capacity, the bypass valve closes completely. No additional liquid will flow into the tank until the level drops below a reset point.
