A clean motor-fueling experience is attractive to drivers and better for the environment. On the other hand, a dirty, leaky fuel nozzle is a turnoff to drivers and a potential liability if fuel spills onto the forecourt.
To combat the less-than-desirable issues that some fueling nozzles can create, OPW Retail Fueling has succeeded in creating a cleaner, greener fueling experience through the development of its 14 Series family of dripless nozzles that helps protect people and the environment. All models are outfitted with new patent-pending free-draining spout technology or fuel-capture technology that reduces spillage and leads to a cleaner, more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly fueling site.
Introduced to the retail-fueling market in 2019, the 14 Series nozzles are available in four models:
- 14BP Automatic Dripless Nozzle: This is a no-pressure/no-flow self-service nozzle that has a free-draining spout with no dams or hidden reservoirs. This innovative design prevents fuel from dripping onto the forecourt after a fueling event. This prevents these leftover drops from evaporating into the environment releasing Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) whick are a direct cause of air pollution. These are nozzles are compatible and for use with unleaded gasoline and up to 10% ethanol blends.
- 14E CARB ECO Dripless Nozzle: This no-pressure/no-flow self-service nozzle uses a special interlock system inside the bellows to activate fuel flow, which allows it to meet California Air Resources Board (CARB) fuel-capture standards for dripless nozzles. The revolutionary design features a free-draining spout and no dams or hidden reservoirs again helping improve air quality. These nozzles are for use with unleaded gasoline and up to 10% ethanol blends.
- 14C Diesel-Capture Nozzle: This nozzle has been designed for use in diesel-fueling applications and has a specially designed Integral Diesel Capture Chamber. The nozzle captures any diesel fuel inside and outside the spout when the nozzle is returned to the cradle, creating a cleaner and safer fueling experience. This diesel-capture chamber also allows the nozzle’s venturi to evacuate the captured fuel and reintroduce it into the fuel stream, which helps ensure that every drop of fuel eventually finds its way into a fuel tank and not left behind on the nozzle handle or front of the dispenser creating a cleaner fueling experience for the customer and a cleaner station for the fuel marketer The 14C nozzle is approved for use with diesel blends up to B20.
- 14HC High-Flow Diesel Nozzle: This latest 14 Series nozzle has been designed for use in high-flow diesel applications, making it ideal for the needs of truck-stop locations. Building on the 14C model’s ability to ensure accurate user control and minimize spillage, the 14HC nozzle also comes equipped with diesel-capture technology that enables it to retain excess diesel fuel. The result is a cleaner fueling nozzle and an overall cleaner fueling site, even when used in high-flow applications.
All models in the 14 Series nozzle family are UL- and ULc-listed for use at fueling sites in the United States and Canada.
