The second pillar that comprises OPW’s “Defining What’s Next” philosophy is Protecting the Environment. In the grand scheme of things, we are all stewards in helping ensure the well-being of the environment. As stewards, we are
tasked with preventing irreparable harm to the environment due to our actions, whether intentional or unintentional.
OPW takes this charge seriously, knowing that the choices we make today will have far-reaching effects on the health of the environment and the quality of life of Earth’s inhabitants for generations to come. That is why you will find equipment and
systems from OPW’s business units in use around the globe. Specific examples of these products, all of which have been created with environmental protection in mind, include:
- PDQ and Belanger, the companies that comprise OPW Vehicle Wash Solutions, know the importance and value of the water and electricity that are required to power their vehicle wash systems, with wasted water and overburdened power
grids negatively affecting the environment. As a way to reduce water and electrical power consumption during washes, PDQ created the LaserWash® 360 Plus touchless in-bay
automatic wash system. The LaserWash® 360 Plus features efficient valve design and cleaning-solution distribution system that saves on water and electricity consumption during the wash cycle. In the soft-touch realm, the new
Cube from Belanger is a three-brush in-bay automatic rollover system. Water and electricity consumption are optimized via a host of “smart” features, including Smart Spray
arms that utilize geometric proximity and high-pressure passes to maximize cleaning with minimal water usage.
- Civacon protects the environment through its mission to improve safety during the hauling and transfer of hazardous fluids. To illustrate this, Civacon has created a video that highlights
its latest products that have been engineered to keep fluid transfer secure and contained. These environmentally friendly innovations include the CivaCommand Smart Tank System, which
integrates all tank truck technology into one easy-to-use point of access touchscreen; the CivaStar Advanced Overfill Prevention Sensor that monitors the status of the loading system’s overfill sensors and allows easy identification of any
non-permissive readings that should occur; and CivaControl Air Control Systems that provide simple yet safe monitoring of the cargo tank’s air control system during loading and unloading operations.
- Keeping a retail fueling location operating is not a simple case of unlocking the doors and turning on the dispensers. All fueling sites must satisfy a number of key regulatory statutes designed to enhance environmental-protection capabilities before
they can begin or continue operating. Recognizing this, OPW Retail Fueling has created a series of Hanging Hardware Kits. The kits contain third-party approved hanging hardware,
such as nozzles, swivels, breakaways and hoses that are UL-listed and NFPA 30-approved for specific gasoline, diesel and alternative-fuel formulations. Additionally, all of the hanging hardware kits are shipped to the fuel site fully assembled
after they have been tested for continuity and consistent performance in changing environmental considerations.
