Dover (NYSE: DOV) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Acme Cryogenics, Inc. (“Acme”) for $295 million in cash, and that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Engineered Controls International, LLC (“RegO”) for $631 million in cash, subject to customary purchase price adjustments. Additionally, the RegO acquisition includes tax step-up benefits with a net present value of approximately $35 million. Both businesses will become part of the OPW Global (“OPW”) operating unit within Dover’s Fueling Solutions segment.

As is the case with all liquid fuels, it is vitally important that proper fuel-handling techniques be practiced in order to prevent fuel contamination. This includes outfitting the rolling ethanol fleet with systems and components that are compatible with its handling characteristics, with failure to do so resulting in component degradation that can contaminate the fuel or lead to dangerous product leaks.

One of the most important tasks for drivers who deliver motor fuels to filling stations is to get the right product in the right quantity into the right tank – every time. That’s why cargo tank component companies and cargo tank builders have developed equipment and systems that can indicate, alert and prohibit loading if any product is retained, helping resolve potential negative outcomes.

LPG storage terminals demand the use of a loading-arm system that is compatible with LPG handling and transfer, and can reliably delivers safe, pressure-sensitive and efficient operation.

Since achieving the ultimate level of safety is this terminal’s top goal, a hands-on approach was used when it was designed. Unloading LPG railcars can be a difficult and high-risk job and during the research phase of the project, company personnel learned that the safest and most efficient sites were relying on a specific brand of loading arms.

When performing an annual review of the effectiveness of its butadiene-safety program, a manufacturer became concerned that some butadiene particulate was remaining in the nipples and couplers on the valve systems that were in use at its facility. The equipment that was in use was meeting regulations, but the manufacturer was not content to let its existing equipment perform beneath its elevated expectations for excellence.
