OPW Gives Back to It's Communities in 2017

By OPW | Dec 28, 2017

OPW employees helped protect people and places with their products and their time in the communities where they live and work. Below are just a few examples of OPW helping neighbors in need throughout 2017:

Smithfield, North Carolina – Retail Fueling

  • In May, the Smithfield team helped sponsor “A Walk in Her Shoes” – a fundraiser that benefits Harbor, the domestic violence shelter in our area.

  • In August, the Smithfield site held a School Supply drive for children at Harbor, a local domestic violence shelter.

  • In September, the Smithfield team sponsored and participated in Guns ‘n Hoses – a golf tournament to raise money for families of fallen firefighters and police in their community.

  • Each quarter, the Smithfield team donated gift bags to the local Adopt-A-Cop program. They put together gift bags for five police officers who OPW adopted in the area as a way of saying “Thanks”.

  • Every year, Harbor, the local domestic violence shelter, holds a Christmas Party for the children in the shelter. This year as in previous years, OPW put together 60 gift bags for the children attending the party.

  • Smithfield’s local Partnership for Children holds a Toys for Tots drive every December. OPW participated in the toy drive this year. Employees purchased gifts and donated them to Toys for Tots.

  • The Smithfield team supported its local Chamber of Commerce’s clothing and toy drive for children in its local school system who can’t afford Christmas gifts. We gave toys and clothes to that drive.

  • OPW also participated in Smithfield’s local Golden Wishes holiday drive, where local businesses donate Christmas gifts to local Senior Citizens.

Kansas City – Civacon

  • With the help of employees at Civacon, the Kansas City team adopted three needy families through a local non-profit. Employees collected funds and the company matched the contributions. Employees then purchased clothing, hygiene supplies and toys, etc. for Christmas for the families.

Skokie, Illinois – Midland

  • In November, the Midland team conducted a food drive for Chicago’s Lakeview Pantry. The team collected 529 lbs. of food, equaling over a $1,000 in donations.

  • The Midland team also hosted a toy drive for Toys for Tots in December, ahead of the Christmas holiday.

DePere, Wisconsin -- PDQ

  • PDQ sponsored 10 wreaths that were placed on the headstones of veterans laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The wreaths were part of the larger Wreaths Across America The Green Bay wreath drive was conducted by the Brown County Senior Squadron.

  • PDQ also continued its six-year tradition of being a Gourmet sponsor of its local Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Hamilton, Ohio -- Retail Fueling
